Here's what we were working with - an exterior door opening that needed a proper steel door installed the right way. Not just dropped in, but roughed in, sealed, and set up correctly before trim and paint go on. That foundation work is what separates a door that performs for years from one that causes headaches every winter.

Steel doors are one of the better investments you can make for an exterior entry. They hold up against the elements, they don't warp the way wood can, and when they're fitted and sealed correctly, you stop feeling that cold creep around the edges. Drafts in the winter are usually a sign of a door that was never quite right to begin with - either the wrong size, poor installation, or both.

The fit is everything. A door that's even slightly off throws off the seal, the swing, and the overall performance. That's why we take the time to get it dialed in before any finishing work happens. Rushing that step creates problems you don't see until it's cold outside and you're standing in a draft you can't explain.

Spring is actually a smart time to deal with door and window upgrades. The weather cooperates, scheduling is easier, and you're not scrambling to fix a problem in the middle of summer heat or a January cold snap. Getting ahead of it now means the job is done right and you're not reacting to an emergency later.

Whether it's an exterior door, interior doors, or windows, the process is the same - proper fit, solid installation, and finished details that hold up over time. This one still has trim and paint ahead of it, but the hard part is done and done right.
